After 2 trips to the Atlanta airport, 1 meltdown, 5 hours in the airport, and 8 hours on a plane - I made it! I have to say, when you travel internationally - it's almost worth the extra money to fly business class. It's really a treat to get your own space, a real pillow and a down comforter, and noise canceling headphones. I ate like a king and watched 2 movies. It was awesome.
So I've already broken one rule in my 4 hours here at the hotel. Nap. I didn't sleep too much on the plane (because they were always feeding us) and by the time I got to the hotel, it was a struggle to keep my eyes open. Determined to stay awake and go to bed at my new time, I strolled the hotel and surrounding areas. I had original plans to visit a cute area of London, but Mother Nature had other plans with the dark sky and rain. This only seduced me more into wanting blissful sleep in that fluffy bed. Instead, I went to the bar to grab a Coke Light and a snack and while I was there, I honestly debated on whether or not it would be rude to lay my head down on the bar. I just wanted a minute to rest my eyes. Honestly. I decided against it as I thought that I'll be at this hotel awhile, and don't want to reputation of rude lazy American girl so early in the trip.
I could no longer fight it. When I came back up to my room to return work emails, all I could see out of the corner of my eye was that big white fluffy bed. I couldn't stop myself from crawling into that cloud of heaven and I told myself only an hour. Which, amazingly, I stayed true to. However, it may have something to do with the loud British news coming out of the radio alarm I set, followed by the thumping of my heart, and a waking thought of - "Where the hell am I?"
It was very nice to sleep so hard and now I hope I can go to sleep at a decent British time so I can get up and go to work. Just in case you're wondering, when you come to England for work, the last thing you want to do is work! I can't wait for the weekend :)
Here's a pic of the garden and I have a view from my room. I don’t have the best internet connection, but will try to update when I can.
Love to hear about your trip! Hope you have some down time!
