I have finally put most of my pictures together from London. On the left, you'll see a link to some of my favorites. You can also view more on my flickr page.
I had such a good time in London and feels like forever ago that I was there! I feel fortunate to have stayed with Alina and Nick, and got a taste of what it's like to live there and see everyday life. I found it interesting to learn the terms they use for common things or sayings.
Here's some of what I picked up (the British term on the left):
Hole in the Wall - ATM
Lift - Elevator
Toilet or Loo - Bathroom
Boot - Trunk
Garden - Yard (Back garden, instead of backyard)
Loft - Attic
Hoover - Vacuum (doesn't matter what brand of vacuum it is, it's a hoover)
Probably one of the most amusing thing to me was that it's common to have your washing machine in your kitchen, in England. It sits in the kitchen, just like a dishwasher. A lot of the homes and flats don't have dishwashers, so it must be an easier place for plumbing purposes. When I went with Alina and Nick to look at a house they are interested in buying, I must have stared at the washing machine, under the counter to the right of the kitchen sink, for a good 10 mins trying to understand..... ;-)
I really look forward to my next trip to London, seeing more of the country side and laughing with Alina and Nick!
I don't get "life" and "boot". I love it though.
And oh how I love the accent.
I'm so glad you had a great time with Alina and Nick!

Ha - thanks for your comment Sunnee. It was actually supposed to be "Lift" - a typo. :)

ok ok. now i guess it's not entirely too strange.
I must've been a lucky one and caught your 'integrity' post before it went dark. To that, all i have to say is you're the best Amy. Simply the best.

It's funny because you always seem to catch me when I'm just posting. I wanted to re-do that post...still working more on it. :) But thanks for reading.
